TechWeekEurope Celebrates IT Achievements with the Winners of the 2013 Tech Success Awards

  • IT project successes honoured in TechWeekEurope’s industry awards

London, UK – 3rd December 2013 – TechWeekEurope, a leading technology news and advice website, today announced the names of the winners of its Tech Success Awards. Now in their second year, the Tech Success Awards were formed to celebrate successful IT projects across seven major categories: most innovative project, best cloud project, best mobility project, best big data project, best public sector project, best security project and best open source project.

Hotly contested, the awards celebrate the achievements of those who have successfully implemented innovative and unusual IT projects within their organisations. Deserving companies battled it out in seven awards categories before being whittled down to the following winners:

  • Innovation: Westminster City Council
  • Open source: South Worcestershire ICT Shared Services
  • Cloud: Cancer Research
  • Big Data: NHS Health and Social Care Information Centre and BJSS
  • Security: Royal Bank of Scotland
  • Mobility: SitexOrbis
  • Public Sector: Blackburn IT Services Ltd

The Tech Success judging panel is made up of industry experts: Peter Judge, Editor at TechWeekEurope UK; Lorenzo Cavallaro, Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of Information Security in the Information Security Group (ISG) at Royal Holloway University of London; Ian Osborne, Project Director at techUK; Clive Longbottom, Co-Founder at Quocirca; Liam Newcombe, Technical Director at Romonet; Mark Taylor, CEO at Sirius; Vince Holton, Owner of Incisor TV; and Mark Young, Editor at Nimbus Ninety.

Last year the first Tech Success awards honoured IT staff in the UK who created innovative projects that benefitted their organisations. Winners included Jaguar Land Rover, Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust (CHUFT), and Cadoxton primary school in Wales. All of them used technology in new ways that showed how IT can help any organisation perform better.
